SYMPATEX® in FOOTWEAR The unique properties of Sympatex fall into a number of categories:
BREATHABILITY - The outstanding high levels of breathability are attained through the use of a novel type of hydrophilic polyester membrane. Vapour transport is measured against ISO EN 20344. Sympatex laminates far exceed the required standards. This “thinking” membrane will adjust to the level of activity of the wearer and the operational environment. With increasing humidity within the boot, the hydrophilic membrane will react to allow more water molecules to pass through.
WATERPROOFNESS - Footwear fabrics laminated with Sympatex achieve waterproof levels equivalent to the pressure of more than 10 metres of water (14.5psi).
MECHANICAL STRENGTH - Sympatex is practically isotropic allowing high stretch properties in all directions. This ability, allied to high strength in loadings provides for an extremely durable lining.
BARRIER PROPERTIES AGAINST BACTERIA - Tests conducted on bacteria such as Escherichia coli ATCC 11229 and Staphylococcus aureaus ATCC 26923 found the membrane to be impermeable to liquids and micro-organisms.
CHEMICAL RESISTANCE - The Sympatex membrane complies to ISO 368 to provide resistance to caustic soda, nitric, hydrochloric and sulphuric acids.

Note - Sizing & Fit
A fire fighting suit is designed predominantly to protect the wearer from heat and flame but other factors must be taken into consideration when deciding what the correct fit is for the wearer. The high thermal values incorporated into the suits means that it is essential that the fit is not too tight; encouraging an air flow between the body and the suit will help to reduce the heat build-up from the body, particularly when hard physical work is being undertaken. Please take this into account when measuring up.
